Deserting

I’ve been a very busy freelancer for the last while, which has been great, but has also meant that a long-awaited trip to Arizona and Southern California kind of snuck up on me. In a last-minute attempt to set the tone I purchased this beautiful succulent-filled print by B.C./Nova Scotia artist Sarah Burwash, from her booth at the Halifax Crafters spring market last weekend. And now I’m reading Abbey’s Road, a deserty essay collection by Edward Abbey, lent to me by a friend who will be meeting us amid the cacti later this week. Also: a wedding in Tucson, a return to my all-time favourite Singing Wind Bookshop in Benson, camping, tacos, Catalina Mountains, and despite my best efforts probably too much sun on the head.
